JEFTA TANATE
25. March 2019 - 29. March 2019

CLASS
The aim is to work on a movement quality which recognises the effect of gravity. How to use gravity in the most efficient way while being sensitive to our surrounding and able to react to each given impulse. In the research we play with the freedom of transformation, while we listen to our body so we are able to communicate physically with each other at any moment. Having this information we would like to introduce the other side of the spectrum. Using this conscious movement and work more on where the movement can take you. Involving acrobatics. So that we can start exploring jumps and the space above us. And how that can grow within partnering with other bodies. Meant for dancers and circus artists.
ABOUT
Jefta Tanate graduated at ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem, The Netherlands. His internship at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam launched him into the Dutch dance scene. Since than he has adopted multiple techniques and methodes such as Contact-Improvisation, Martial Arts and Circus. He had the opportunity to develop this within theatres like Maas TD and Arch8. Where he came across with Mime. In Maas TD he developed a new perspective on movement. Other than big majestic tricks and flips. He learned to appreciate the small and subtleness use of the body what could change outcome of a scene completely. Nowadays he collaborates with the company Ritual. A mix of circus, theatre, dance and other forms of live performance and with Cia. Nadine Gerspacher in her latest production : “the age of aquarium” .
