# Raul: Through Movement with VAYA

The training is an invitation to try, train, play and challenge yourself. We work with specific movement material, as well as exercises and training sequences, inspired by martial arts, fitness training and the search for the consciousness of our body. The movement material seeks to challenge physically through speed, the use of space, a powerful flow of energy, and acrobatic elements; as well as mentally through the use of isolation, unreliable coordination, and increased responsiveness.


# Karolin: training

In addition to some technical elements Karolin invites the dancers to be aware of the body weight and to play with the rhythm of movement. In this particular class, she shares her interest in using the body as a drummer, varying with many different rhythms and using the body musicality to synchronize as a group. The dancers get trained in coordination and sense of rhythm. Her passion for details and energy through a choreographed form has brought her over the years to develop a very special way to create movement material – her mouth-beatbox system as a steady companion. She encourages people to dance without fear and hesitation, using physicality and full energy. Influenced by various dance techniques, floor work is a very important part of the class. In general, this class is usually considered a very powerful, joyous, and challenging class that attracts dancers who love the physicality of dancing.




Raul Martinez graduated from the Taller Nacional de Danza – Conservatorio El Barco in Costa Rica in 2009. He is the founder of the collectives Nana+na , Cla and Los INnato, VAYA as well as the festivals La Machine in Costa Rica and Nómada in El Salvador. He has worked in many projects as a dancer and performer like The National Dance Company of Costa Rica and ADN Dialect in Switzerland amongst others. As a choreographer he has received residencies in Spain (L ́Struch Le pettit Mon de Sabadell), Brasil (Primera Residencia Nucleo Vila Dança, Salvador de Bahia) and Mexico. He has created pieces for the National Company of Dance in Costa Rica, the National Company of El Salvador, Núcleo Viladanca in Brasil and the University of Veracruz amongst others. Raul has been awarded with various prizes such as National Prize of Dance from Costa Rican Government in the category Best Dancer Of The Year 2011. Currently he continues to develop his investigation of the human movement through physical training and martial arts and the management and production of projects.


Karolin Stächele (*1984, Germany) trained at TIP – the Freiburg School for Dance, Improvisation and Performance (2009-2011). Since 2013 she works as a freelance dancer, performer, choreographer and dance teacher (2015: 1st prize in the federal competition “Rauskommen! Der Jugendkunstschuleffekt”; 2018: Innovation Award Soziokultur, BKM-Preis Kulturelle Bildung). In 2014 she founded the DAGADA dance company (www.dagada.org) with her first full-length work “loser” (further productions: “GRENZLAND” 2015, “radical matter” 2016, “the BLOB” 2017, “Androgynous” 2017, “MYTH” 2018, “LoveArchive” 2019 with the online blog www.lovearchive.live). In 2018 she collectively created the interdisciplinary piece “T.” for the Freiburg Festival (production: E-Werk Freiburg). In 2019 she dances in „Blood Song“ (choreography: Maya M. Carroll, production: E-Werk Freiburg). Karolin showed her works in Germany, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. From 2017-2019 she was receiving the three-year concept funding from the city of Freiburg. Lately she was working on „NAKED LOVE“, a production from E-Werk Freiburg, supported by Tanzpakt Stadt-Land-Bund.




Im Dezember findet das Training mit eingeschränkter  Teilnehmer*innenregelung statt. Montag bis Freitag 9.30 – 11.00 Uhr im Studio E-WERK | 5,€ pro Einheit.

So geht´s im Studio unter den aktuellen Sicherheits- und Hygieneverordnungen:

      • Bitte komme in Trainingskleidung und mit Mundschutz.
      • Vor dem ersten Training in bar und passend für alle gebuchten Einheiten (z.B. 3 Mal = 15 €) bezahlen.
      • Trage Dich in die Teilnehmerliste ein!
      • Verwende deine eigene Trinkflasche.
      • Bitte Händewaschen und -desinfizieren nach Ankunft und vor Trainingsstart.
      • Nicht kommen, wenn Du Dich krank fühlst. Falls bei Dir nach der Teilnahme am Training eine Infektion festgestellt wird, informiere uns umgehend darüber.
      • Bitte sorge für Ersatz, wenn Du nicht kommen kannst.
